Keep Customers Informed
By communicating with customers, truckstop and travel plaza operators can make them feel more secure and even prevent the spread of the virus.
- Staff at truckstops and travel plazas may receive questions from customers, and The NATSO Foundation has created this customer handout based on information provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Businesses can add information about the H1N1 virus to their Web site with widgets provided by the government at http://www.flu.gov/news/socialmedia/#news.
- If locations' operations are disrupted due to illness, it will be important to communicate with customers. To reach out to fleets and professional drivers, relay information to American Trucking Associations through Boyd Stephenson at bstephenson@trucking.org and Clayton Boyce at cboyce@trucking.org (please send a message to both contacts).
- To communicate with bus operators, locations can e-mail the American Bus Association at abainfo@buses.org and the group will distribute the information.
