Drive To Save Lives
There is no valid substitute for blood. When you need it, the only place to give it is from another human being. - American Red Cross, SALT Tour 2003
The Drive To Save Lives is a nationwide effort by truck stops and travel plazas to collect live saving blood. From its infancy in 1994 when 31 travel plazas pioneered the effort, this program has overwhelmed nearly everyone associated with it. Growing every year the Drive To Save Lives is ranked in the top third in size out of less than ten drives like it nationwide.
The NATSO Foundation has been recognized for its efforts by the American Red Cross and the American Association of Blood Banks. To date the Drive To Save Lives has collected over 50,000 pints of blood and potentially saved the lives of over 150,000 people.
There is perhaps no more worthy project for The NATSO Foundation to undertake than contributing to saving human lives. Through the Drive, NATSO members reveal that their industry is one made up of kind and compassionate individuals.

The NATSO Foundation has awarded over $250,000 in scholarships to deserving students since 1993.
